Building Capacity of Communal Public Utility Service in Kacarevo

Problem

Public utility services in Kacarevo lacked equipment for solid waste removal, which resulted in wild cat dumps endangering the environment. Another problem was that in winter part of the village would be cut off, since snow was only removed from the road to Pancevo. There was also lack of grass mowing equipment.

Solution

In order to improve the public utility services in Kacarevo a backhoe loader, a grass mower and a power mower were provided. Local communal inspection was established to monitor the quality of services and register offenders.

Impact

The quality of life in Kacarevo has improved because of the improved services provided by the public utility company. The environment is better cared for by having organized solid waste collection from houses. The provided equipment is also used for maintenance and repairs, as well as snow removal from the road connecting Kacarevo and Crepaja. "Even the grass looks greener".
