Title

Well Digging for Water Supply

Problem

The village has water supply problems in summer, with only half the need met by currently functioning wells. Villages in southern Banat are totally dependent on water supply from underground wells. A water table has been identified 90 meters below ground.

Solution

Digging of a new well provides regular water supply throughout the year, and ends the need to truck water into the village during summer. One fully functioning water well can satisfy the needs of nearly 20 percent of the village population. The village has established on the local community level its own public utility service responsible for water supply.

Impact

Establishing water supply and connection of wells to the main pipeline provides convenient access to water for the village. Improved water supply in Kacarevo ensures better social and health conditions, and improves the quality of life for more than 7,600 inhabitants.
